The
Coast Guard Public Relations Division's caption: Lawrence Coast Guardsmen on ship in rescue mission in PhilippinesThese Lawrence, Mass., Coast Guardsmen, holding a captured Jap flag, recently returned to the United States after serving ten months aboard a Coast Guard-manned frigate which rescued seven Army scouts trapped behind Jap lines in the Philippines. Left to right, the men are: James E. Hanlon, fireman first class, of 15 Nesmith Street, Gerard J. Lehoux, fireman first class, 3191/2 Lowell Street and Ray J. Buchonis, seaman first class, of 163 Union Street. The men's ship also convoyed reinforcements to Leyte and and helped clear the sea lanes. |
