The Grinch Who Stole Christmas is Real

Tom Duggan

No longer just a children's fantasy story, in modern America the real Grinch doesn't live at the top of Mount Crumpet. No, no, he resides in the cold, black hearts (and offices) of the ACLU and every person who tries to stop others from freely celebrating the season of giving, the season of charity and the season of happiness for children and families.

And just as the fictional Grinch came down off Mount Crumpet to steal Christmas from the "Whos down in Whoville," the real life Grinches of today come out from under their rocks and file law suits to steal Christmas from children all over the America.

What is so amazing about today's Grinches is that they are just as mean and just as irrational as the fictional Grinch. Dr. Suess himself couldn't possibly have imagined that his creation would someday be a reality.

And lets call it what it is, shall we? Anyone who takes away a child's joy of singing a Christmas Carol at a school play or coloring a Santa Clause in art class is a vile, mean and narcissistic person who cares nothing about being "tolerant" of others and only cares about what he himself FEELS!

It is the new standard of modern liberalism and it is truly sick.

So the real life Grinches, with their hearts "ten sizes too small," file into court and make phone calls to schools and city halls across the nation to threaten and coerce government officials to remove public displays of Christmas trees, nativity scenes and other holiday decorations.

Some are even filing lawsuits and complaining about people who put up Christmas displays on their own property, citing local zoning regulations, searching for any legal loophole they can find to rob Americans of the right to freely exercise their expressions of Christmas joy.

WHY? Well, they are offended of course.

And, like the actual Grinch who pretended to be Santa Clause when confronted by little Cindy-Lou-Who, these haters of religion, God and specifically Christmas pretend their attacks on Christmas are all for the common good. After all, the real life Grinches will say, someone might be "offended" because they do not celebrate Christmas while others are actually….celebrating! (GASP) And on public property, no less!

They cite the U.S. Constitution (erroneously) saying there has to be a "separation of church and state" or somehow that there "rights" are being violated.

As if the trauma of viewing a pine tree with colored lights will deny them the right of a fair trial or free expression. They carry on about being offended as though a child singing Jingle Bells at a Christmas play is equal to them singing Hitler Youth songs about exterminating Jews.

On second thought, the ACLU and the God haters have defended the "rights" of Nazi's and the Klan to offend, which I guess begs the question: How is a Christmas tree or a Christmas song more damaging to someone's sensibilities and more offensive to them than racist Nazi symbols?

How is it that "offensiveness" is the standard for Christmas but not so much for the hateful demonstrations of racists and fear mongers? Doesn't free speech apply to everyone regardless of the type of speech? Or is speech only protected when it isn't about goodness, religion, God, Christmas and other objectionable EVILS to the Left?

The answer is that it has nothing to do with sensibilities or offensiveness. It has nothing to do with protecting the consitution, it has to do with thosw who want to erase the words "or the free exercise thereof" from our first amendment regarding religious expression.

They hate God and they hate the fact that Christmas is rooted in religious tradition. Even though it has become a secular American tradition practiced by people of many (and no) religions they just cannot stand it that other people find joy and merriment in our rich American Christmas traditions.

Personally, I have had enough of the sound bite arguments, backward thinking and dishonest debate. I've had enough of people forcing the rest of us to sanitize society of words and symbols they find offensive. All the while lecturing the rest of us about being tolerant of wierd sexual lifestyles and "accepting" those who views things differently.

The dishonest, Christmas-hating Grinches can pretend to care about "tolerance" and "not offending people" all they want, but when you peal back the layers of their deceitful arguments what you have left are most intolerant people alive.

Those who celebrate Christmas as a holiday of peace and giving have been "tolerant" of those who complain about Christmas because of their goodness and reluctance to "offend." And that good hearted nature has been taken advantage of by people who only care to deprive others of the Holiday joy.

People who so intolerantly demand that the rest of us show tolerance towards them and then force us to comply with their wishes should be shunned, or confronted but dealt with much more harshly than we are treating them.

It's time to stop giving in to these people and say enough is enough. We shoyldn't be fearful of offending someone with the goodness of Christmas. We shouldn't be affraid to say to anyone "offended" by a pine tree with colored lights on it that they need psychological help.

The fact is, Christmas is an American tradition celebrated by atheists, agnostics, Christians, Catholics and others. It is a secular American holiday that has evolved and taken on a whole new meaning than just the birth of Jesus Christ. Allowing the free exercise of Christmas celebration on public property does not establish a government religion. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves in order to fool the rest of us.

But we are not fooled.

It's not we who celebrate Christmas who are offending others. Goodness is not an offensive trait. In the real world we have to recognize that it is those who hate God and Christmas who are being offensive. It is they who should be more tolerant of symbols and songs, the values of which they certainly do not share. It is the Grinch who must tolerate the will of the majority not the majority who must be inconvenienced by a monster who takes great joy in depriving others of happiness.

Just imagine.......

....if the Whos down in Whoville, instead of celebrating Christmas over the objections of the Grinch, removed Christmas from their little town so as not to offend him with their infernal "singing" and happiness on the top of mount Crumpet?

Would Whoville be a better place?

Would America?
