Election '04'' Santiago in - Alvarez out! In a move not seen since Jose Santiagao promised not to run for Mayor, the former State Rep. turned on one of his own (again) and announced in the Spanish Language press that he will be a candidate for State Rep. next year against Willie Lantigua. Councilor Alvarez, said weeks ago that shewould not have considered running if Santiago had exppressed an interest inreturning to the Legislature. Alvarez said during her announcement that she will not run for Santiago's old job if he had expressed an interest in running. No word yet from Santiago as he has only told the SPANISH press. When we hear from him we will update you. For all his faults (which are numerous) at least Santiago fought for ALL Lawrencicans, and not just "Latinos" as Lantigua has done for the last year.
