Putnam Investments Joins 50 Other Businesses
In Partnership with Notre Dame High School

Putnam Investments Joins 50 Other Businesses in Partnership with Notre Dame High School   Lawrence—Notre Dame High School (NDHS) is proud to announce a new, mutually beneficial partnership with Putnam Investments in Andover. On September 5, 2006, Putnam Investments began employing a team of four Notre Dame High School students in entry-level, clerical positions.

NDHS, an innovative, college-preparatory school for economically disadvantaged students, features a work/study program in which motivated, trained, and supervised students attend class four extended days a week and hold entry-level clerical jobs with local companies one day a week. The program is known as the Corporate Internship Program (CIP). The professional positions students occupy allow them to earn 70% of their tuition and gain invaluable job and life experience as they prepare for college and subsequent careers.

NDHS sophomore Cindy Montesquieu loves working at Putnam.  “I want to major in Business Administration in college and working at Putnam makes me feel like I am already part of the business world,” she says. “My bosses are really nice and the people are really friendly.”

Junior Cassandra Houde appreciates her co-workers’ willingness to answer questions with their “no question is a dumb question” motto.

CIP sponsors enter into a contractual arrangement with NDHS at a cost of $21,500 for a team of 4 students. The sponsors typically see a cost-savings of $5-10,000, since they do not pay benefits and significantly reduce absenteeism and turnover at their entry level positions. NDHS students are transported to and from work, resulting in a better than 98% attendance rate.  Many sponsors see an immediate increase in overall employee morale and an enhancement of their company profiles as community leaders.

NDHS students working at Putnam Investments will be filing, faxing and responsible for basic data entry among other clerical duties.
