Matter
of Taste to Benefit N. Andover Senior Center
Come to the Stevens Estate on September 19, 2006 for a
wonderful evening of delicious food and wine tasting.
The Friends of the North Andover Senior Center, Inc. is
hosting a gala event called Matter of Taste
on September 19th from 6:30pm-9:00pm at the Stevens
Estate. Ten local restaurants are participating in the
event and wine tasting is being provided by local
winery, Red Oak Winery. There will also be a silent
auction and raffle.
The event was a huge success last year, raising almost
$10,000 with the proceeds going to help supplement the
North Andover Senior Center.
With monies raised from fundraising events, the Friends
have purchased a van, bought 10 long tables, computer and
electronic equipment, have given out 16 scholarships and
pay for the mailings of 4000 Four Seasons Newsletters
quarterly.
The Friends hope that the van will be delivered by the
state by the end of this year. The scholarships pay
for classes offered by the center.
The mission of the Friends of the North Andover Senior
Center is to provide educational, financial and social
support to the director, staff and all of the seniors who
enjoy the center. The friends have three main fundraising
events year: the Matter of Taste in the fall, the Gala of
Trees in November and December, and the Spring Variety
Show.
Membership to join the Friends is open to everyone and
the Friends always welcomes and is looking for working
members. Tickets for Matter of Taste are $40.00. For
tickets or to become a member, please call (978)
937-4132. Tickets can also be purchased at the Senior
Center or at the door on the 19th.
